The Art of District 9: Weta Workshop is a pictorial guide to how the team at Weta Workshop developed the concept art through to finished product of the science fiction movie District 9. The book covers the gamut from the aliens, through the weapons, exosuits, spaceships, even the colour schemes used in the movie.

Leaving aside the merits of the movie (it was a contender for a Hugo award, but not a winner), the parts that made the movie science fiction were interesting and original and deserve to be looked at in closer detail. This book does those aspects of the movie proud. The book is also a publishing rarity: a coffee table science fiction art book. This is a book for the fanboy or girl who loves the world of design and concept art.

Move over Bauhaus and Art Noveau, Weta Workshop is here.
