Steven de Selby’s family is the business of death. To be more specific, he is a "Pomp" and his job is to send spirits on to their next destination. It’s a job, much like any other, right? Right. Or at least it is until somebody decides they’d like to be the new Regional Death of Australia…which means the de Selby family is very much in the way…

Death most definite is Jamieson’s urban fantasy debut novel in the Death Works series and, right from the start, captured my attention with a dead girl and a bang. Literally. If I have one teeny, tiny niggle it’s that the story seemed to drag a big at the beginning and then, suddenly, BAM! It was all systems go and a faster-paced story took place.

Ringing sinuses, gunshots, ghosts, conversations with your dead relatives and a pressing need to track down Mr. Death himself – it’s quirky, dark, fun and, in some parts, put me in mind of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files books.
