This is an interesting whodunit. The main character is a Singaporean inspector sent to Kuala Lumpur to help solve a murder case. A Malaysian man has been shot, and Inspector Singh has been sent over because the main suspect is the man’s Singaporean wife; they were in the middle of a divorce battle over custody of the children. She swears she didn’t do it, the Inspector thinks she didn’t do it, but the local police aren’t cooperative, and she appears to have a very good motive.

I liked this book. The main character is a maverick detective, the supporting cast are interesting characters too, and the story has a lot of twists and good local colour. The author also has a few sharp comments about the deforestation of Kuala Lumpur and nearby places. I’ll be looking out for the next in the series, A Bali Conspiracy Most Foul.
